■whatの用法
関係代名詞 what に導かれる節は名詞節なので、「主語、補語、目的語」のいずれにもなります。
では例文で学習します。
[主語になるパターン]
例文：「彼がなくしたのはペンです。」
What he has lost is his pen.
（The thing which he has lost is his pen.）
[補語になるパターン]
例文：「これが私の探していたものです。」
This is what I'm looking for.
（This is the thing which I'm looking for.）
この補語になる場合は、１で学んだように前置詞を前に出してもOKです。
This is what I'm looking for.
＝This is for what I'm looking.
This is the thing which I'm looking for.
＝This is the thing for which I'm looking.
[目的語になるパターン]
例文：「持ち物には名前を書かないといけませんよ。」
You must name what you have.
（You must name the things which you have.）
