a friend of mine と my friend の違い
a friend of mine と my friend は両方が「私の友人」の意味ですが、微妙にニュアンスが異なります。
a friend of mine が「友人の１人」を表すのに対し、my friend は「親友」であることを暗に意味します。
Takuma is a friend of mine.
（タクマは私の友達の１人です。）
Takuma is my friend.
（タクマは私の（仲の良い）友人です。）
したがって、「最高の友達」と言いたい場合には my best friend と表現します。
a best friend of mine とするのは不自然な気がします。
× Takuma is a best friend of mine.
○ Takuma is my best friend.
（タクマは私の最高の友人です。）
